Founded in the early 1950s, Matthews Tire™ has seen many changes come to Northeast Wisconsin. Over the years, we’ve been proud to grow along with the communities we serve. Through personal attention and great service we’ve built relationships with our customers. They come to us for quality tires, great service and friendly treatment. Our customers know they can count on us to keep them safe and secure on the road.
1952–1954
Matthews Tire is founded as a US Royal dealer by Fred Matthews in Appleton on College Avenue. Soon the business transitions to the Goodyear flag and is later sold to Leon Gunderson.
1985

Dennis Rezner, a former Goodyear employee and patriarch of the current owners—the Rezner family—purchases the business.
1988
Matthews Tire’s second location—this one located on Union Street in Waupaca—is opened.
1989
A third location quickly follows with the opening of a store on Appleton Road in Menasha.
1995
Matthews Tire purchases the current Fond du Lac location, located on West Johnson Street, from Goodyear.
1998
A former Champion Auto store is purchased on Oneida Street in Green Bay and becomes Matthews Tire’s fifth outlet.
2001
Matthews Tire expands with the opening of the sixth store—the new Appleton East location—on Van Roy Road.
2003
To better meet the needs of Matthews Tire’s significant commercial customer base, the Matthews Tire Commercial Tire Center is opened on Bluemound Road in Appleton.

Today, President Trevor Rezner, Controller Debbie Duesing and Office Administrator Jennifer Brockman, along with Operations Advisor Pat Duesing, continue Dennis Rezner’s proud tradition.
