Founded in the early 1950s, Matthews Tire has seen many changes come to Northeast Wisconsin. Over the years, we’ve been proud to grow along with the communities we serve. Learn more about our history and growth below.

1952-1954
Matthews Tire is founded as a US Royal dealer by Fred Matthews on College Avenue in Appleton. Soon, the business transitions to the Goodyear flag and is later sold to Leon Gunderson.

1985
Dennis Rezner, a former Goodyear employee and patriarch of the current owners—the Rezner family—purchases the business.

1988
A second Matthews Tire location opens, located on Union Street in Waupaca.

1989
A third location quickly follows with the opening of an additional Matthews Tire auto shop on Appleton Road in Menasha.

1995
Matthews Tire purchases the current Fond du Lac location, located on West Johnson Street, from Goodyear.

1998
A former Champion Auto store is purchased on Oneida Street in Green Bay and becomes the fifth Matthews Tire outlet.

2001
Matthews Tire expands with the opening of the sixth store—the new Appleton East location—on Van Roy Road.

2003
To meet the growing needs of commercial customers, Matthews Tire Commercial Tire Center opens, located on Bluemound Road in Appleton.

2011
The Rezner family continues to own and operate Matthews Tire with the same commitment and dedication to serving customers. Today, President Trevor Rezner, Vice-President and Controller Debbie Duesing and Vice-President/HR Administrator Jennifer Brockman, along with Operations Advisor Pat Duesing, continue Dennis Rezner’s proud tradition.
